Background
In their own words, “Karamark Capital is an independent capital advisory and fundraising platform serving private market investment managers.” The advisory operates primarily in Canada.
Challenge
The challenge was to translate Karamark Capital’s core values—integrity, transparency,
and balanced intelligence—into a clear visual language.
and balanced intelligence—into a clear visual language.
The identity also needed to introduce an objective, neutral metaphor that could resonate across both social and business spectrums.
Action
Guided by the organization’s optimal brand touchpoints (predominantly online media),
it was clear that there is a need for a strong yet simple stand-alone graphic symbol.
it was clear that there is a need for a strong yet simple stand-alone graphic symbol.
To avoid the stereotypes of the finance industry, I followed two key approaches:
simplicity in shapes and elements, and a subtle nod to universal symbols—all presented with Karamark’s unique brand values in mind.

Stairways to Success
My goal was to create a logo that avoids the typical clichés. It’s nearly impossible to find a symbol that is both unique and meaningful in such a crowded space.
The concept of stairways immediately came to mind as a powerful metaphor for elevation and a clear route to success. However, the true challenge was in the execution. I thought that a basic, solid shape would be too plain.
Instead, I added a simple line pattern to the design. This detail is suggestive of growth charts and positive momentum.
Together, the ascending shape and the dynamic pattern create a strong, standalone symbol that is both fresh and memorable.
Two-line stacked wordmark with offset alignment, designed to balance the bold, asymmetric mark.
I maintained simplicity and clarity across all core brand assets.
